Dear parents and students,

Welcome to the grade five blog for Miss. Ordogh's class. This blogspot will continually be updated with all the important things that are going on in our class. It is an easy way for students and parents to access information like learning links and our class calendar. Special events like picture day, class trips, or pizza day will be announced on this site. You will also find information on what is being studied in class throughout the year. Please check back often, and I would love to hear your suggestions on what you would like to see on this site. Grade Five Social Studies

The fifth grade social studies curriculum will explore Canada and World Connections. Students will learn about aspects of citizenship and government in Canada. Social studies will begin with a in depth look at Canada's federal, provincial/territorial and municipal governments. The best resources for information on the Canadian government is the website created by them. Check out our provincial website or the Candian government's websites.
We will also be discussing our rights as Canadians including the right to vote, freedom of speech and, the right to freedom from discrimination and harassment.

The grade five science and technology curriculum focuses on human organ systems, properties and changes in matter, conservation of energy, forces acting on structure and mechanisms, as well weather. This year will begin with a unit on weather. There are numerous sites you may visit to learn more about he weather around the world.
